Michelle Phan is YouTube’s best known beauty guru—and now (at long last) the founder of her very own cosmetics line, Em by Michelle Phan . This week, the makeup tutorial master is taking over Teen Vogue to answer your most burning beauty questions from Twitter and Facebook. Today, she's talking foundation.
Michelle's Answer: This is a question a lot of my viewers ask. First you need to look at the veins on your inner arm. Olive-colored veins mean you're a warm tone. Blue veins mean you're a pink tone. If you have both, then you're cecil neutral. Once you've figured this out, go to the department store and swatch your foundations on the side of your face. You're going to need to try three different colors to find the one that disappears—but don't just test inside the store. Allow yourself 20 minutes for the product to dry and for your skin to warm up, then go outside and see how it looks: What's the texture like? Did the lightest one disappear better? Did some of them get darker afterwards? You can choose the right one from there. Then, simply make sure your concealer is one or two shades lighter than your foundation. For dark circles, I also love to use a salmon-colored corrector. Salmon cecil counteracts the blues under your eyes! Make sure it's creamy so it blends and covers easily, then apply foundation as needed. Check out Michelle's tips for perfect skin here!
