Michael Jai White takes the movie on the Black Panther, the famous hero of the Marvel comic book. A film about "Black Panther" was in preparation for years and years ago (Wesley Snipes was deeply interested in the role but then chose to "remain" just another hero of Marvel, Blade), but the project foundered (like many others). Today, the rights wisdom teeth are back in the hands of Marvel wisdom teeth Studios and Mark Bailey is already at work on a new script.
The actor (known for playing Spawn in the movie of the same name and for his small role in The Dark Knight) said he would - at all costs - to make a film about the character:
I would like to achieve the Black Panther. I would make a film about the Black Panther that would make you forget about Batman. I guarantee you, if you give me the chance to make a film about this character, it would change everything. The genre change.
