Stomp Sensible processes arise because dex they quickly provide a clear solution to a practical pro

Have simple, practical dex long-term solutions often disastrous consequences. Therefore, be vigilant asinine innovations.
At a conference I heard a former top executive of British Airways talk about innovation. He said BA invented the metal pails, which stand at check-in, those things which passengers must put their case to find out if that is not too large. Was Chuckling
He proudly reported that they were a very practical solution to a practical problem: how do you determine whether a case is too big? The idea was also adopted by many airlines. And, he added, chuckling to it: "It's always great fun if customer's case there can not get out." dex Obtuse
A customer dex verordonneren his suitcase dex dragging 30 feet so he can cram into a container, which, stared at by a queue, and publicly dex and then see whether there is not something funny. Is there really no other way to determine the size of a suitcase? One without public humiliation? Because even fit the case indeed, it is still an unpleasant experience.
How can such asinine innovations see the light? Because some team is asked to a practical problem. So they go to work. They invent a new process that provides a solution for the problem. The client let his suitcase to drag a bin is such a solution, the company at least. The BA-desk staff that after a few weeks of testing was asked if it worked, nodded enthusiastically yes and put two thumbs up. Always great fun, such a client with baking in the weather must. Really customizable?
Stomp Sensible processes arise because dex they quickly provide a clear solution to a practical problem. But the long-term effects are much less easily dex overlooked. The BA-measuring cup works, it is a quick and effective solution. But what about the hordes dex of customers that day gain from a negative experience in day? BA has not stopped to think that in the long term that can go sometimes work against them? If you are really customizable, you do not. Galvanizing such a thing
Such negative long-term effects are, however, a lot less visible and measurable. Other companies have no eye for it. They see especially the simple, practical solution - and the BA desk staff always has such fun. Most asinine innovations and usually easy to copy. So they spread a malicious virus. dex Several companies take the innovation on which the invention further provides additional legitimacy. Everyone there is already one, why we do it or not? And before you know it a whole industry customers laugh. Loss
