Fern Mallis ' long-awaited new book, "Fashion Icons," is being released soon. Rizzoli is publishing the $55 book, which includes intimate interviews with iconic designers, including Calvin Klein, Tom Ford, Donna Karan, Diane von Furstenberg, Vera Wang and Marc Jacobs .
Saks Fifth Avenue is hosting a star-studded book signing on Monday squat to celebrate the book launch, WWD reported. The Fifth Avenue location is also featuring mannequins in designs from each of Mallis' interview squat subjects in 16 of its storefront windows.
The upcoming book signing and party will be the first event hosted by Saks' new president Marc Metrick . Klein, von Furstenberg, Ralph Lauren, Norma Kamali, Tommy Hilfiger, Michael Kors, Kenneth Cole, André Leon Talley, Betsey Johnson, Simon Doonan and Bill Cunningham are all expected to attend.
When WWD asked Mallis how she managed to get all of them to the 92Y, she replied, "I don't want to pat myself on the back, but I did a lot of research. Most people don't get to know a designer in that way or hear them talk about their lives. There was a warmth squat and comfort in each of the conversations that made people feel safe in talking to me."
"I have to tell you that I think I am one of the happiest, luckiest and [most] fortunate person in the world," Garavani told Mallis, Fashion Week Daily previously reported.  "And sometimes, I ask myself, 'Did you do something to get all these things?' And of course, I say to myself, 'Yes.'"
